It's Tax Season!
It’s tax season! The library is often the first place that people think of when they know taxes are near. We frequently get questions like, “I was told to come to the library for tax help, what do you have or can you help me with my taxes?
How can the library help during tax season?
We have:
- Tax forms
- Computers – you can file electronically
- Fax, scanning, and copy services – we can help you scan and save documents that you might need to upload.
- One-on-one appointments – We cannot give tax help or guidance but we can help with basic computer functions.
- This can include:
- Helping with navigating the internet
- Assisting with scanning and emailing functions
- Guidance on how to use a keyboard and mouse
- This can include:
*Library staff cannot give tax help, fill out tax forms or give guidance on filing taxes.
At this time, we have been unable to find free in-person tax help in Trinidad, Colorado. We will continue to keep an eye out for this resource.

Internal Revenue Service – The official website of the IRS and the first stop for information relating to federal taxes. Includes tax forms, online services, refund tracking, and frequently asked questions.

IRS YouTube Channel – Features IRS videos on a variety of tax topics, from explanations of the New Homebuyer Credit to how to track your refund.
Colorado Department of Revenue-Taxation– The starting point for all things related to Colorado taxes. Includes tax forms, online services, informational brochures, and news updates.
Free Tax Classes– The Colorado Department of Revenue will be offering its tax classes as webinars and online guides this year. This page also includes additional resources for business, sales, and individual taxes.

Get Ahead Colorado– A partnership between The Piton Foundation and the Colorado Community College System, Tax Help Colorado offers free tax preparation assistance to families who earn less than about $56,000 a year. This site contains a refund calculator, links and resources for filing online, and a map to locations offering their free tax preparation service.
